Fuel Pump Rebuild
Fuel Pump Rebuild
Has anyone had success rebuilding a 40523 fuel pump, either doing it yourself or sending it out? Mine is the original and I'm questioning its performance.
Thanks

Not sure of the part number on mine but it is a dual action on a 1962 98 w/394 ci. and I just did a rebuild with a kit from Fusicks.
Looks intimidating at first but with a manual and a video posted by another member it was pretty straight forward.
I haven't started the car yet but bench testing everything worked as should.
The rebuilt pump was listed as 100 bucks more than the kit so if you are not doing it for fun the rebuilt is probably the way to go.
I bought the car to tinker with so I did the rebuild and it also taught me alot about other systems on the car.
hope this works

Then and now automotive is the youtube page.

From what I understand, there's only ONE guy that rebuilds the crimped style pumps. I could be mistaken, but most the fuel pump rebuilders out there don't seem to want to touch them.
From the Corvette crowd, I found this out-
Fred Ballard, from Canyon Country, California. (661) 251-2362.
Another mentioned Paul Baker, but I only use his name as a potential deterrance because reports say he's screwed over many people.
I have no dealings with either person, so, you're on your own.
I still got a 40523 NOS pump in my parts stash, so hopefully I'm good.

Found some more info on Fred. Apparently he gets batches together to go to the platers, so it may take a while.
