Fuel pressure for a 394ci w. 2GC

Hey Gang!

Planning on attending the Homecoming show on the 14th. My car is running a Rochester 2GC with an electric fuel pump. The age of the pump is unknown (...presumed old...) so I figured that I would install a new one before I make the 4 hour trek.

I've done lots of searching online for an answer, but haven't been able to find much on how much fuel pump pressure I need AND how much is too much and will force fuel past the needle and seat.

One post said "...never more that 4.5psi..." and other said "the standard GM mechanical pump was 5-9psi"

I'm running a 1962 394ci 2 barrel 280hp version, Slim-Jim auto with 3.42 gears.

Please feel free to chime in with info/opinions/Olds-mo-knowledge

Thanks! Ty

My advice,
Get a good rebuilt mechanical fuel pump. And get rid of the electric pump.

Ha! Roger that! Maybe I'll look for one at the Homecoming Swap meet!

X2 on the mechanical. 5 PSI would be my max goal.
