Fast ez-efi 2.0

Fast ez-efi 2.0
Was wondering if any of you had thoughts about the new version of the EZ-EFI ? The new version offers timing control , 1200HP cap , and E85 option also .
I know a fair amount of people ran the old version and were happy with it on a variety of projects . With these new features on the 2.0 version it seems to be a great option for a broad range of applications .
I have done the multi-port injection with sbf in the past . However , I like the clean classic look of these tbi units for the older cars . Particularly for use with our OAI setup we have on some of our cars .
What are your thoughts here on CO ?

I was going to consider the Holley HP self tuning unit, after my tax return this year. But once I saw the new FAST EZ-EFI 2.0, I'm going to wait for more info and pricing on it to make a decision.
Timing control is a must in my opinion. And the screen that comes with the 2.0 looks like it can replace a handful of gauges in the car too. Save me the hassle of trying to custom mount a bunch of 2 1/16 gauges.

The Holley can be had with the touch screen with very little need for a laptop or none. Uses an SD card and does timing control also. I don't think the Fast is all that far ahead. Holley's new throttle bodies are out this spring redesigned.
I like multi-port due to a much more precise metering especially fully sequential. No relying on the intake to mix the fuel.

But with that said, you're right, it's still an electronic carburetor. And depending on the rest of the combo, it will still be a compromise.

Hopefully, this summer,I can get that kit on something & try it.I have the XFI on the 72 now, which is a completely different animal, but the EZ EFI 2.0 would be better-suited for most street-strip applications. When you get into multiple functions and power adders, then it's a different story. The XFI is really overkill for my car, since it is just naturally aspirated, and it has functions that I may not ever use,but I can get pretty finnicky with the tune.At the time, there weren't other basic EFI kits that would handle the higher HP levels that I needed.A kit that is only good up to 550HP was already no good for me,since my power is above that, and the new engine will be over 700HP N/A.

Any ECM's ability to "support" higher hp comes solely with the amount of injectors it will fire and whether or not it will fire high or low impedence ones.
Even the old crappy Holley Commander 950 would support hp levels into the high teens because it would drive up to 16 injectors of almost any size. That's what makes the difference.
But again, remember any TB system will still be at the mercy of the intake design and have just about all the issues you would with a carb, i.e., potential uneven fuel distribution and so on. And unlike a multiport system, there's no way to control that with a TB system. And even the XFI 2.0 MPI has individual cylinder fuel and spark control, BUT it's all or nothing, meaning if you want to add or subtract fuel/timing from any given cylinder it will only do one/same amount across the entire load/rpm spectrum. That's rarely a cure. Other systems allow you to change it via load and rpm, that's a much more effective way of controlling individual cylinder temps.
One other point, make sure the new system you decide on not only has spark control, but temp influenced control as well. Most of these newer systems don't.

Thanks for the input guys . Some things I would add to this thread .
Mark(cutlassefi) made mention of the Edelbrock setup . What happens if the blue tooth fails ? How do you connect to the system then as they do not say anything about a cable interface .
All the other setups use only 4 injectors where as the new 2.0 has 8 . This seems to be the major limiting factor for the HP limits on the 4 injector systems .
Also , with 8 injectors I am guessing this is a big help for the use of E85 .
The new Holley Terminator has a patented fuel spray ring below the butterflies . They claim of course that it makes a big difference in the performance of tbi systems . Also , with Holley being the main supplier of efi systems for NASCAR now , what adavantage if any might they have with this new setup ? Keep in mind it also only has 4 injectors .
As far as software is concerned , the Projection III has had imo the most flexable and tunable software since it came out in I think late 09 or early 10 . The ability to tune with that setup per their software was miles ahead of everyone else and may still be . However the quality of the parts and customer service have been very disappointing coming from others who took the chance on them .
One question for Mark(cutlassefi) . Does Accell have anything like these systems or plan to offer one if not ?

This seems to be the major limiting factor for the HP limits on the 4 injector systems. Yes as per my earlier post.

Also, with Holley being the main supplier of efi systems for NASCAR now, only the throttle body itself what advantage if any might they have with this new setup? None, the best way to ensure the best fuel mix is to inject the fuel above the throttle blades, just like a carb. Keep in mind it also only has 4 injectors .

You're certainly entitled to your opinion but I've seldom been impressed with any Holley software.

It's main drawback is it will only physically hold 4 injectors and while spraying above the throttle blades is more beneficial, it's also a bit more messy as a fuel mist will hover above the throttle body at idle when using injectors in the 60+ range.
But the ECU's with the Accel TB system can be configured to run a multiport with just a swipe of the mouse and an injector harness change. It'll do 3 stages of nitrous, support a 5 bar map, datalog, lock up the converter on a 700R4 or 2004-R tranny, control fans and a bunch more.
Hope this helps.

Mark , forgive me on this statement and the way it was taken . I meant to say of the self-tuning tbi units out there the Professional Products Projection III software at that time seemed to have way more options for tunning than the rest . As for the rest of the fuel injection software , the Accell and FAST stuff I have had a chance to work with is superior in all ways yes .

Does the Accel Gen 7 or Thruster ECU have this capability?
#11
Yes both if possible.
Both the Gen 7 and Thruster have both, the Edelbrock will have engine temp by the spring, not sure about the new EZ 2.0 as they haven't released all the info on that yet. It's great to have both, espeically on a blown application as it allows you to curve the timing once intake air temp rises from boost, the engine temp won't change that much but the intake air temp will.
LX89- my bad, I thought you were talking about the Holley Projection units not the PJIII. You're right the PJIII has overly simple software, but too simple, slide switches, really?
And go on V8Buick.com. There's a post there from a couple years ago about the guys tuning the "self-learning" feature. Over 400 posts and they still couldn't get it right.
P.S. they didn't like me too much over there because I kept pointing that out

Here is some info I received from the FAST email tech-support:
Me:
When will more information and pricing be available for the new EZ-EFI 2.0 system?
FAST:
I do have some pricing information on the EZ EFI 2.0 systems, are you using a distributor on your setup or is it coil on plug? Inline fuel pump or in tank pump? Is this a four barrel type setup or direct port injection? Just let me know and I will send you some info, thanks…
Me:
It's a 350 Oldsmobile with a Mallory billet HEI style distibutor, but would be willing to switch it to a different dist if needed, to let the EZ EFI 2.0 system control timing. I'd rather not have to upgrade to a crank trigger, hopefully that's not needed for timing control? Would an external ignition box be needed?
I currently have a new stock tank with a RobbMc 1/2" pick up with -6 fittings on it. http://www.robbmcperformance.com/pro...69_gmsend.html I'd prefer an external inline pump for ease of installation, but I've heard an in tank pump is better? My engine makes approx 425hp at 6,000 RPM. Is there an advantage for me to run an in-tank pump on my rather mild engine? (other than less noise) What is involved in mounting the pump in the tank? Does it come with a bucket to prevent fuel starvation?
And I'm looking at the four barrel throttle body type, not port injection.
FAST:
The kit that you would need would be the 30328-kit, HOWEVER, the release for these have been pushed back til late summer, ugh ! This is a product that is on our horizon and will be a huge seller for us, the small bugs and tweaks are numerous and with this much of an anticipated wait, will sell quickly as orders are being allowed to be taken. The cost of the 30328-kit will be $3348.19 and will include the high volume intank fuel pump. The system will operate setups with 1200hp capabilities. I will be glad to re visit this with you say in August if you would like to save my email address and kindly remind me, if it comes sooner I will be in contact with you. I hope this helps somewhat and have a great day !
Me:
Thanks again for the reply, but you missed a couple of my questions.
Can you give me a price for the unit with standard volume (if there is an option) in-line pump? $3,350 puts you solidly as the most expensive self-tuning system out there, not even competitive on price.
FAST:
I have not seen any type of in-line option for this new kit, yes our kits are expensive, but after seeing the other kits that are out there, ours is the easiest to install, the cleanest hall-effect communication channels, most professional wiring and does run a complete self tune. In other words, I know ours works and have replaced several of our competitors units with ours because they just don’t do what the customer wanted when it came to tuning and proper operation after full install.
Sorry I missed some of the questions, if I had more information about the new unit, I definitely would share it with you..everyone is jumping on the efi bandwagon and it will get more crowded in the market as time goes on, we proudly have years of experience with these systems and have learned what works and fortunately what does not work, in our systems. The inline pump question I did miss, your fittings would work excellently with an inline tank instead of the in tank version. The fuel pressure at the top end would be more than sufficient for your motor needs.
As soon as I see, or am provided, with more information with the new system, I will gladly pass it on to you. Thanks and have a great day..

I hope that price is not correct . The price I was told would be in the $2700-$2800 for the kit without pump . I would think due to there being so many other kits made by various vendors now that the kit price couldn't be so high . Back in the day before it was called FAST you could buy a MPI Speed Pro kit loaded for $2500 with wide band.
Has anyone heard prices for the new Holley Terminator or Edelbrok E-Street kits yet ?

The old Speed pro kit wasn't that great, it's essentially what is known as the FAST Classic. Had a lot to be desired.
