I'd say 460-475 if it's a good port job.

Horsepower TV did a build 2 years ago with Edelbrocks, that same cam, a Performer and an 870 Street Avenger. It made 456 in "cold air".

You'll need more cam to make 500 or better. But I'd definitely go with the Edelbrocks.

Jmo.

If you want a good cam try some of the racing cams not the street or voodoo cams but their racing cams from Lunati, they have always worked well for me, try at least a .565 lift and 250 or higher duration and try to keep lobe center at 108. You should be able to pull more power out of it and be critical on your clearances. The heads are where the HP is at!

I'm jumping in kinda late here but Chris, do you by chance know what the deck height is and the head CC's? With those TRW pistons I'd say you're going to have to have a really small chamber head and zero or negative deck height to get 11.5:1 compression.

Someone feel free to correct me but I think the 4000 stall might be a little too high for that cam...especially if you're not revving over 5000 - 5500 rpm. The 4.10 gear might be a bit much for 1/4 mile as well...anyone else wanna chime in?

Ah64pilot is right on the compression issue and on the torque converter, I made that mistake back in the 70s too much stall and not enough cam and rpms. 2800 stall would work well with that cam and the rpms your going run and the 4.10 gear will be ok if you use a tall tire... 30 or taller. you have to do the math, rpm, gear, tire dia. but with a 2800 stall it will be easily driven and still stand up and go!

I had to get my cc,s to 77, use a .020 head gasket, metal, and the deck set at .002 to get 11.1 compression. Its tough to get that compression with those pistons. On the torque converter you could use it if you change your cam and use that Demon carb. Then use a 28 dia tire. should come out hard.

Chris, i'm with 442rocketdave that is way too much stall. 2800rpm would be much better! You'll enjoy the 4.10 gears around town, but not as much on the hwy. i have 4.10's i my 77 442, and 73 442.

as for engine hp i'd also say 420hp? my 455 .060" w/10.25:1, ported 75cc B heads, jm 28-29 cam, torker, 850, dyno'd 457hp @ 5100, 523tq @ 4000

I have 3.73s in mine and it is too much for the highway for sure! I have a TKO 5 speed on the way! Now I can put a sticky tire on it and not worry about breaking the trans (M20, out, TKO, in). Here's a boring vid for you I made when my car was dynoed. The power numbers are to the tire.

Doug, are your numbers to the tire or flywheel?
