Electric Fuel Pump?

I was looking at a 455 with the Edelbrock heads the other day (very close to the build I am doing) and he had a stock style fuel pump, but he had to notch the head to get it in there, something I don't want to do. Is this a common fitment problem? and should I go with an electric fuel pump?

Some brands of mechanical fuel pumps will fit without mods others won't. There was a thread just the other day talking about this and I believe it was the hi-flow carter the fit without mods. I notched my Edelbrocks with a Rat tail file about a 1/4" to fit a mechanical pump on mine a couple of years before I found out that some would fit. Some guys use electric your choice.

Not that I can see. Mine does not starve. I am running 10.1 compression with a fairly aggressive roller cam and a Holly carb
