Exclamation Dipstick installation help for a dipstick

Hey guys, I have seen the other threads about dipstick installation and have another piece I need to add. Does anyone have a picture of their dipstick installed? My dipstick didn't come with a bracket for th ehead and I don't have the old one. Does anyone have a picture of the bracket? I also have Edelbrock aluminum heads...anyone with those sort of heads would be EXTRA helpful, but ANY picture would do. I just need to see how it was mounted. I may fab a custom bracket but I have no idea where to start. Thanks!

Here is the dipstick. How deep should I be looking to put this thing in, btw?

What car is this for? It doesn't look like an Olds dipstick that I have ever seen? Looks more like sbc? I know my 72 doesn't attach anything to the head. It's straight into the lower block.

For one, pull the dipstick out of the tube and reinsert it into the opposite end. That will make it look like it should.

Then, where the raised flange is...the largest one before it goes smooth is where you stop. You will have to put the headers on before you install that dipstick so you will have to do it in the car. Otherwise you'll be pulling it back out. If you have manifolds then you put the dipstick on first, and the manifolds go on over it.

I got tired of messing with it, so I tapped my block to 1/8" NPT and plugged that mug. I just gotta monitor how much goes out compared to how much I put in...

No dipstick tube in mine either. My engine builder says "My motors don't use oil"

Wow, so the idiots sent it to me packaged backwards?
I got Hooker headers for it, but I am trying to run an oil primer to keep the engine and parts oilled during storage. Do I even need this in then or can I leave it out?

ITs for an Olds 455 with Edelbrock RPM Performer heads.

For now, put some ultra copper on a 3/8" bolt and stick it in the hole...that'll seal it while you use the primer. Then when you install the engine put in the dipstick.

I wouldn't call them idiots, I have seen many a dipstick come packaged that way...I guess it's to make you pull the dipstick out of the tube before you put it in? IDK.

Well, guess I am the idiot then, haha. I will seal in a bolt, thanks for the idea.
I forget, is the actual oil pan pressurized during the running or is it just a return?

It's pretty much a return. You will have crankcase pressure but it shouldn't be too high. You have nothing to worry about, especially since you'll just be priming the oil system.

No one told me it takes like 30+ minutes to get oil to the top of a motor, haha. NOR did I know which way to spin the primer. But it works!!!
