degreasing llower block with oven cleaner like many of u suggested...

I couldnt beleive how the oven cleaner completely dissolved the oil,,sludge...Oil was leaking in the front of the intake and has been pouring down the front of the block and back...3 cans of oven cleaner and a little scrubbing and its super clean...thanks 4 the advice..

Great especially if you want to remove the paint. But without further prep, will the new paint stick okay?

i dont see why there woulld be any problem as long as the metal is degreassed and clean i will find out soon enough...I was thinkin but the oil all over my lower engine it had some major issues..But after jacking itt up and seeing the oil pattern it looks like it just came from the front intake seal..And oil has poured down the front of the block and back...5 cans of oven cleaner and a wire brush and a power washer did the trick...Not much work with the oven cleaner...Watch overspray...I used lemon scent and now my whole garage smels like a lemon,,,,

Also keep it off aluminum. It eats it.
