Decode 455 Motor

Found this motor for sale, it’s been sitting and no history on it. What’s it worth?

I’ve offered 450 and it’s about 50 miles away. Lol. What are the heads? Same year? What car did this probably come in?

by the design of the " F " on the block and the 71 only G heads i would say 71 442 or 71 big car . chk the vin on the block it may tell you more.

I gotcha. I’m waiting to hear back. On the heads, If you zoom in looks like their is an A down from the G. So GA heads?

Correct, those are GA heads, which were only used in the 1972 model year. The VIN derivative stamp will tell you the year of the block. That Offy intake is not your best choice for performance. If you can't hear it run, $250-500 is the max, and I'd err on the low side. If the pistons are stock, they have soup bowl sized dishes. The fact that it's been open to the elements for who knows how long says that you assume it's a core.

Hey I'm just happy the guy wants to buy it. Way too many people are like, I got this old thing and I want to sell it, and they join here to do that, and we're like Curly Bill: "Well, bye."

Waiting to hear back. But it also has no oil pan the seller said. I believe it’s been in his garage. I’m thinking 450 maybe too high. I guess I can try to turn it over if we decide to meet up.
