Crank shaft end play

Crank shaft end play

What is the exceptable tolerance on crankshaft end play in an olds 455? Can somebody explain in laymans terms the issues between the Automatic trans and the end play?

I try to shoot for .006-.008. for whatever trans.

Blueprint calls for .004" to .008".

Hard to define any "issues" as the dimensions are not related.

I simply tell my crank grinder what dimensions I want, and that is what I get.

But I have never claimed to be an "engine builder".
