Cooling an Olds in a Buick

Hello. I've got a 72 skylark with an olds 455. Recently picked up an aluminum clutch fan off of a 71 cutlass with a 350. Does anyone know if this will adequately cool my car? It has a flex fan on it that is driving me nuts. All you hear is fan. Thanks.

There's a good chance that it will.

Either way, it'll be better than the flex fan. If the temperature starts to creep up in warm weather, you can always replace it (or just the blades, or just the clutch).

How many blades and what diameter?

Welcome to ClassicOlds.

That oughta do it, as long as the clutch is still good.

You've got a fan shroud, right?

You're welcome.

The fan shroud is gonna take some measuring! It is all cut up and pieced together from at least one other shroud of unknown origin. Most likely for clearance issues as it was an original 350 car. Test fitting the fan showed the shroud wasn't going to cut it so now either I need to see if a buick 455 shroud will fit or find an olds shroud and bracket. Luckily Daytona's coming up so I'll have my measuring tape
