cooling

My 65 cutlass has a 330, I am installing a 455 .030 soon, I have a 3 row aluminum rad with 2 electric fans and chrome half moon shroud, 8 blade mech fan, will this be enough to cool in the arizona heat? I will be using 160 stat with it. No a/c, I know, I'm nuts. If you think it will not cool enough, what would you recommend?

It will probably cool without the electric fans.

II agree, it will probably be OK.

There are things to consider, though. For example, my car's coolant runs around 190 with the AC on during 110 summer temps. If I get on the highway and "keep up with traffic" which means the engine is turning 3400 RPM or more, the temperature climbs up to 210. If I back off to 3200 RPM or lower the temperature drops down to 190.

So it depends upon how much heat the engine is generating and how much heat the coolinig system can dissipate. Higher engine RPM = more heat generated.

Electric fans are junk unless the shroud fits well. The fan needs to pull or push the air THRU the radiator. Those cheap fans with the zip strip cable ties are great for drawing air around the fan.

if you absolutely have to have electric fans, either spend the money for a fan that is designed for your radiator, or find a junkyard fan/shroud combo that is close to your radiator size, abs make the shroud fit tight.

Dont cheap out on the wiring. A good fan will pull around 25 amps, and probably 3 times that amount during startup.
