Carb for 455?

Hey fellas, I'm still in the process of collecting parts for my 455 build. I have the short block in the machine shop with .030 hyperuetectic (sorry bout the spelling) pistons stock rods and nodular crank. I'm using roller everything on top. Mild cam ported GA heads Edelbrock performer I think. Any ideas on a carb?

Holly street avenger or a Q jet both good carbs. The cam and intake will determine the size I would guess somewhere between 750 and 850 CFM. What intake stock, performer, torker, victor? You can find new carbs on ebay and craigs list if you aren't in a hurry or used ones in the parts wanted section of this site

Its a Performer. I had a 600 edelbrock (carter or is it weber) carb that I wasn,t using, untill today I found a guy on craigslist wanting to trade a 750 for a 600 so I traded him. I wasn't real impressed with the carb so didn't have anything to lose. I have the stock carb but just thought I would ask if anyone was really fond of one or another. I am putting big intake valves and the cam has .505 0r .515 lift with 1.6:1 rockers

I run a 770 holly avenger on mine and it is built pretty well. Works great full roller cam, lifter and rockers. Cat rods 15cc pistons, aluminum heads, etc, it scoots What cfm is your Q jet great carb when set up correctly. You won't find many people on the site who have been happy with the edelbrock carbs, common complaint has been bogging when they hit the gas
