Camshaft reccomendations...Stock 455
I have a stock 1970 455 with C heads, Edelbrock performer intake, 750 Holley and stock manifolds. I am looking for a rough idle cam, as the car is street only and I don't really want to change much. I am basically going for a rough idle and good sound. I don't want to get one too large as the car has power front disc brakes. Looking for some part # help from JEG's. Thanks...

Talk to Mark - Cutlassefi here, he has helped many with custom ground cams.
Aggressive cams need more than a stock setup. Higher stall converter, taller gears, higher compression etc. Be careful when selecting of the shelf cam you might lose more than you gain. JMO

I'm looking for the same (rough idle, throatier sound) for my 68 442 with a 400, already equipped with performer intake and edelbrock 750 carb. I am currently running with stock manifolds but would like to go with headers. Any suggestions? Does it matter if car has AC? Any suggestions on Headers as well as cam? Thanks!

First thing you upgrade is your exhaust then do the rear gear.you will get more get up and go then camshaft change.then upgrade the camshaft.them 68 400 are easy to over estimate camshaft size. How a cam works in 455 acts bigger in a 400.I guess 55 less CI make a diffrencence. As for your performer carb there is a flaw in them the opening of the secondary can not be adjusted. I worked on quite a few them sometimes there is a lean stumble on secondary tip in that can not be tuned out.it better to go back to a quadrajet their are few custom builders for them that will match to your combo at the same price or less than modded holley.
