Blue smoke when reving

Blue smoke when reving
hey guys...
is that blue smoke a problem?
it showed while reving up pedal to the metal. at idle its fine..no smoke.
fresh rebuild 461 with around 300mls on it, brand new edelbrock heads, full roller set up. did a short compression check before on cylinder #7 warm/dry. came up with around 190 PSI. i also cant get the valve covers to stop leaking. maybe thats a hint?

As said, I can't see it either. Do you go up and down on the throttle in first gear to seat the rings? Drive it a few miles, check the plugs, keep an eye on the oil level. What valve cover gaskets are using? What PCV or breathers do you have?

I saw the tiniest puff of smoke.
Probably rings not seated - As Olds 307 said, for the first few hundred miles you should do lots of deep up and down on the gas pedal in order to alternately load and unload the rings and get them seated.

If it's the tiniest puff of smoke, how could you possibly tell what color it is? Why wouldn't you assume that it's just a little bit of water vapor? I think I would need to see something more substantial than a tiny puff of smoke that was so tiny that two out of three people who looked at the video couldn't see it at all before I started worrying about it!

All right. I pulled the plugs after an additional compression test (all cylinders around 180 PSI). Spark plug number 2 was just hand tight on the engine and number 4 got a closed plug gap. Corrected all that but couldnt check if that fixed the blue smoke issue. Ill let you know.

as for the breather...its a stock style system. gonna replace pcv valve and rubber parts soon.
the valve cover gaskets are these:

with stock valve covers i used two of them each side to gain some clearance for the poly locks. got a shorter set already, so i hopefully can go back to just one gasket for each side.
