Big block engine decode

Big block engine decode

I have what looks like engine 39X144191. I see the 3 is Olds and the 9 is 1969 but that's as far as I can go. What plant is the X if that is the plant ID?

Are you sure that it's not a K? That would be Kansas City. MO.

Kansas City, according to the 442 W-machine resto guide. Though not a factory publication, it has many printed pages from the manuals. I don't have time at the moment to check my factory books.

It's actually Fairfax, KS, which is not to be confused with Kansas City. Fairfax only built big cars in those years, so this engine came from an 88 or 98.
