does anyone out there have a 14" air cleaner base that is not a low profile? I just picked up a edlbrock 14 " with the top I like but its a lowprofile typ I would like to find a base thats flat or raised I have plenty of hood room

You can go to your local autoparts store and buy a cheapy flat one. Or local craigslist, ebay, or possibly someone might chime in local to you.

 

buy a Summit chrome air cleaner with a flat base for $21...too cheap to bother finding one used.

 

Is it a clearance problem with the base or are you looking for more breathing room above the carb? If it's more room over the carb you're looking for, there might be a taller filter that would work. One trick I used on my ElCamino for several years was to just stack 2 filters.
