70 - 72(?) oil sending unit elbow

I was reviewing the engine assembly manual and noticed an angled elbow fitting for the oil sending unit on cars that came equipped with the rally pac gauges.

What was the reason for it?
does anyone have an extra one?

Its purpose was to raise the hole for mounting the sender. The sender for the guage is a bulb style sender that is lager than the area between the timing cover and the intake. It is just a brass extension with a 45 deg block at the top.https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...ch-sender.html There is a little bit more info on this thread.https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...unit-hole.htmland this one.
