68 Cutlass 455 head bolt stud replacement.
68 Cutlass 455 head bolt stud replacement.
I have a couple questions about accessories and brackets. I am installing the accessories on a 455 in a 1968 Cutlass non-AC car. I’m adding Vintage Air AC with the compressor on the pass side and power steering and alternator on the drivers side. The alternator bracket is the one that attaches to a head bolt on the front driver side corner of the stock head. The engine is a mild build 500 hp and 600 ft/lbs torque.
I was wondering how many head bolt studs do I need to add for those accessories. Is there just the one head bolt with stud on top coming out of the driver side head for the alternator bracket? I know there are bolts with studs for the power steering pump.
My next question seems to be a matter of opinion for many. Can I replace just one corner head bolt with a head bolt stud without having to replace all the head bolts and re-torque and replace the head gasket? If so, should I buy just a stock head bolt stud and torque it to spec? I’m guessing the engine builder used ARP bolts for my head. Also, is there any goop I need on the bolt ie: anti-seize, coolant sealant or Loctite.
Thank you.

Assuming the engine builder machined the bores using the ARP bolts on a torque plate, your using ARP lube with ARP torque will replicate the cylinder roundness that the builder established.
