67 455 spark plug has some oil in it, solutions?

I have a 65 Jetstar with a 67 455 in it. It started running really rough last fall so I put it away. I pulled it out and had a mechanic come out who said I needed to rebuild the carb and that there was a intake manifold leak and I should pop the plugs out to see what they looked like and check the gap. I did today and one of them had some oil in it, its the second one from the front passengers side. I am wondering if there are any short term solutions and advice since I am not a mechanic. The others look pretty good, none have oil.

Thanks in advance!

You don't mention the miles, but by the age, I'd suspect a broken/cracked or dissolved intake valve seal.
Since you're not a mechanic, I'd say have one do a compression test, to rule out possible broken rings in the #3 cylinder
You could replace that one plug, change the oil to 20-50, and see how long it takes to come back - also possible stuck ring or bad spark plug wire.
Have fun!

A couple of things here, compression check to rule out mechanical base engine problem ie rings valves, ignition needs checked and also the second one back passenger side is #4 cylinder

+1. Compression test dry and wet, is your first move.

Another possibility not already mentioned is broken rings or a shattered piston from extensive detonation in a high compression engine.

Also, "some oil" is a rather vague term. Some photos would be helpful.

Just as a footnote, Olds didn't introduce the 455 until 1968. If it's a '67 big block, it's a 425.

You are right jaunty75, it's a 69 455. I have tried like 10 times to upload pictures and it keeps telling me it failed because a security token is missing. logged out and back in and same thing. What causes this?

I have no idea. Many people report this problem when trying to upload photos.

I find the photo-hosting properties of this site annoying, and I never use it. I upload any photos I want to show to my Picasa account and then just link to them here using the little "insert photo" button:

This way they appear in the message in a viewable size and you're not required to click on a thumbnail and thus constantly flip back and forth between viewing the image and the thread.

You don't have to use Picasa. There are many free photo-hosting sites, including Photobucket, which many people on here use.

You are missing a cookie. (The "security token" is a cookie).

It might be as simple as a bad wire or spark plug also.
