Question 67 442 main bearings

Hi Olds buddies,
I have a question, I am replacing the main and rod bearings in my 67 442 400 E block and my question is this:
Why does the front main bearing on the cap side have no hole in it? The old one does not either, so maybe this is normal? I don't know. All the other ones have a hole in the bearing cap side except the first one. It might sound stupid but... Just curious I guess?

can anybody shed light on this for me? Please...

No particular reason but it also has a different tang location.

I'd use the Federal Mogul 108M main bearing instead of the Clevites. They're a 3/4 groove instead of a full groove. That will offer better support.
