Since i've not had any responses from g.d post .i'm looking for the choke rod lenght that goes from the divorced coil to the carb linkage,if no one has one off,can i get a picture.I just need to know if when the choke is full closed is the rod at the stop on the t-stat coil?I'll go from there. Thanks Nick

Hello,

Here is a pic of the chokestat. If you need a new one Warpath has them.

chokestat.jpg

This one was actually damaged by Thorton restorations and had to be replaced. One because they had it plated and it ruined the bi-metal spring, and two they somehow bent the rod.

The correct rod is on the bottom.

Here it is as installed:

the 66 is 2.19 long
the 67 is 2.60 long
pm me your address, bent up a copy of each out of 1/8 tig rod for you to try. both are close but not perfect.

Just picked up a 66 starfire with the 425. choke stat and arm is missing. sucks, because I have to open the hood and manually fiddle with it to get the choke locked in to start the car.
Anyone know which electric choke kit from jet will work with that mv4 carb?
thanks, damon

So I called Jet Performance this morning and they tell me that I have a divorced choke setup and there is no electric conversion kit for those, you have to have an air tube style.
Now what?
Anyone have a source for a divorced choke assembly (with rod and cover) for a 66 425 that's not hundreds of dollars?
Here's what I'm looking at:

1st off, I feel your pain.

I set my 66 BB up with a 67
7027156 carb. The 66 q/j, with the toliet
bowl flush is a pos and fire hazard, period.

I have found the 67, which are supposed to
be adjustable, for around $60 plus ship.
too rich for my blood. I may be wrong, but
I'll keep looking. Just takes a little longer to
warm up is all.

Here's a few pics if you can use them.
My "stove", is a 66 and the rod has been
molested badly. It's not hooked up.

Good luck with it, if you can get the
divorce choke dialed in, they are sweet.

ok, now I'm scratching my head. I need to find a carb guy.
Upon further inspection, It looks as if I have the original intake on the car for a divorced choke, but I found the carb stamp and it is
17058213
1818 BJB
Which indicates that it is a 1978 production carb from a Chevy. At least I don't have the supposed fire hazard you guys are talking about!
Anyway, from what I'm reading, that carb should have an electric choke and possible 2 pulloffs? I'm not sure, but trying to figure it out.

I can't get my carb site to come up.
I think you are right, Chevy, wrong
for your Olds. You could maybe jerry-rigit,
but I would hunt for a 7027156 if it were me.

The 1st pic I posted shows the choke 'pull-off.'
It is the white pastic vacumme diafram with the
short piece of vac line, just lower left of the fuel line.

The choke 'stove' is the black metal piece with the
molested rod. This is the piece you are missing in you pics.
Good luck with the quest, some think it is half the fun!

well, I was wrong, it's still a divorced choke carb. I was able to hunt down a spring/stat coil and rod, but it's going to take some mods if it will even work. $20 experiment.

SteveRW, thanks for the photos - that definitely clears up some of the mystery. Looking at those, even if I had one, its not going to work with the carb I have. The linkage is in a completely different location. Thanks for the photos!
