64 Starfire 394

I'm Considering the purchase of a 64 Starfire Convert on ebay right now. I know LET THE BUYER BEWARE !. I'm concerned with the appearance of the engine. I have a 62 Starfire and am well aware of the color, chrome air cleaner and valve covers, etc. This 64 has obviously been tampered with because the block is blue like a 455 and the intake manifold and valve covers look like a gold 350. What I'm asking is .... is there any difference in appearance between a 62 and a 64 394 other than the PCV tube from the passenger side valve cover to the snorkel on the air cleaner ?

One of the easiest differences are '61-'62, 394's have cast iron Water Pump housings, and '63- '64, 394's have aluminum housings for the water pump

Link us to the ebay posting and we'll tell you if the engine is correct. As chequen has pointed out, 59-64 394 are very similar except the differences in the 63-64 aluminum timing cover and water pump.

A 1964 Starfire engine should be red with silver painted valve covers and aircleaner. Depending on emissions equipment it will have a tube from RH valve cover to aircleaner snorkel, or a CA car will have a PCV valve connected from RH valve cover to carb base.
