57 371 rochester 4bbl and fuel supply
I have just installed a remanufactured carb on my 371cid engine and while thats exciting, here is a big problem. . .
...as it always has, car has trouble starting
...but once running, runs great
...however
...when car is allowed to idle even when warm, the engine chokes and dies
...and
...car has a new electric fuel pump tho it may be too small?
...finally, in the year since i bought it, car has always had starting and idling problems, but once running all is smooth and fine
...already used fuel cleanser additive more than once
...new parts include carb, solenoid, starter, distributor, condenser, wires, elex fuel pump, exhaust, water pump
If anyone has a new rock to look under, I would love to hear. . .want to get this new-looking red and white beauty rolling for real.
Thanks

You need to make sure it has the correct 4GC that has the correct gaskets in it. Seems they're especially sensitive to incorrect throttle plate gaskets for the application.
Julian Hilton in Concord NC just went thru a very similar thing on his 57 and it turned out to be a stuck exhaust heat riser valve. olds4evr@aol.com if you want to pick his brain about it.
