The W43 wasn't "banned". GM halted production on pretty much all performance activities to concentrate on meeting the new EPA requirements. I'll say it yet again, read the period article from Hot Rod (May 1971), not some sensational revisionist piece on the interwebs made by someone who wasn't even alive then. Also note the differences between the real W43 and Kryta's recreation.
Seems like a lot of false information in the video...4 bolt mains???
I don't waste my time watching videos, which tend to be 90% blathering and 10% (if you're lucky) actual information. In any case, the real W43 blocks did have four bolt mains.
Come on fellers......I haven't even watched this video and I can tell just by looking at it that it's AI generated slop. Honestly, at this point YOU should be able to do the same. Don't waste your time.
Anytime you see things like....."shocking truth behind" or "GM lied" or "Oldsmobile Lied!"......."GM exec finally admits!"......etc.....just move on. It's not worth your time. Going to be full of misinformation. I cannot believe people still fall for this **** as legit when it's so obvious that it's complete nonsense generated by some computer.

Come on Joe, give me a little credit. I don't doubt the photo they used is authentic. It's the other details that scream AI generated slop........."Oldsmobile LIED"........"the SHOCKING truth"........"BANNED Engine!". The calling cards of the AI generated trashy click-baity slop video.

Sorry, but that is a photo of the engine Kryta built.
Rather than talking negative about the vid, thanks for posting it. I enjoyed it. Just mute the audio that’s where the inaccuracies are.
I recognized a few of the photos.
This vid showcased all GM 455s...BOP...all great engines. I'll take a Stage 1 and a SD. Buick was the advertised king of torque for 1970...well known fact.
Don’t forget about 70s Eldorado at 500ci (8.2L). Same smooth torque and reliability.
Great time to be alive. Now all kids got is 1.2L 4 banger fart boxes which remind me of a large can of Bushes baked beans and a Pinto or Chevette bla!
Nothing IMO has surpassed the mid-60s-mid 70s Big Blocks of all makes. Though I do like my modern Hemi.
Yes. I get it is a magazine article on a doomed engine. I imagine the dual snorkel would hit that crossover tube. I would guess the OAI hood and air cleaner like Kryta used would have been standard equipment on a W43.

I don't even know what we're talking about anymore. Anyway, I've wasted enough time already talking about this video that doesn't even deserve our attention.
