455 rear main seal?

Good Morning! What mods. need to be done to put in a Ford 460 2- piece seal in a 455? Going to install one on this build even though I never had an issue with the "old rope Seal type". It just makes sense to go with this simple upgrade. Thanks for everybody's input.

Just buy the one sold for a 455. Install with the lip seal facing inward. Stagger the ends slightly. Seal ends with small amount of RTV.

As far as I know, the one sold for the 455 looks just like the one sold for the 460. I've just installed the Ford part (FelPro, actually) and done nothing special, other than the suggested 5 degree offset of the ends and dab of RTV.

I'm having my 66 425 auto crank drilled to accept a manual trans, while at the machine shop I'd like to have the seal surface on the crank cleaned up because of some corrosion. I understand that when using the Ford style neoprene seal it has been reported that it can make for excessive drag, re; Bill Trovato he suggests turning the crank down to the Ford dimension, which also might help clean up my shaft. Does anyone know what the Ford spec is? I've looked high and low and haven't definitively found the answer, a crank shop said they thought it was 3.140" can anyone corroborate this? Thanks

I was given a supposedly FelPro number BSA40032 which I can't find, FelPro doesn't list it, nor can I find it anywhere elce FelPro only lists a rope seal for the 400-455 thru 1970. They list a BS40654 as the Ford 460 seal, Joe is this what you used? Thanks

Does a rope seal come with Fel-Pro FS8171PT4 gasket set?

I got Seal Power's #260-1008 and yes it supplies you a rope seal. I bought the Ford rear main seal from Engine Tec #SC3502 which I want to use.
I've finally gotten my answer after hours of searching, by calling two reputable crank grinders. The answer for those of you that want to go the route I'm going (grinding the seal surface to the Ford Spec) is 3.142" +- .003" hope this helps others. Thanks for your response.
