Does anyone know if there is a company that makes a spiral lock installation tool for 455 OLDS ? I Have found multiple manufacturers for Chevy / Ford nothing for Olds .

What size Chevy wrist pin and what size Ford? The reason I ask this is that the big block Chevy wrist pin is 0.010" larger diameter than Oldsmobile and the Ford FE wrist pin is 0.005" smaller than Olds so the tool for either one may work satisfactorily. I personally have never used a tool to install spiral locks in any engine build.

 

I have never used any kind of tool for installing them. Just grab both ends of the spiral lock and stretch it out like a spring. Then get one end started and wind the rest in with a small screwdriver.


You can stretch it out a lot more than he does in the video, makes it even easier.

 

Ford 289 IS .912 ........ BB Chevy .990 ...... Mopar .984 ....... SM Chevy .927 .................... OLDS .980

Will try to do it again w/o the tool

Ford FE’s are .975, Pontiac’s are the same as an Olds at .980.
