455 out of a boat

I just picked up a 455 that came out of a boat, how do i tell if its a marine engine or if it came out of a car, it does have G heads on the side of the block is a large F on the rear in the bell housing area is 68 F4, next to the distributor is 70, and there is a number stamped on the pad on the left front pad but its not stamped very good and its not like my 70 block that has the 30mxxxxx vin came out of my Toronado
but it look like 22x or 32x then more numbers the engine has been painted red but you can see the blue metallic paint that a 71 engine would be painted.

Well I took a closer look at this engine 32X stamped on the pad on the side, If I am thinking correct the block is out of a 72 delta 88 and the heads are off a 71 car? X being the Fairfax Kansas plant and it seems from what I can find that the delta 88 cars were built there?

While Olds did sell motors directly to boat manufacturers, it was not uncommon for car engines to find their way into boats also. Typically boat and industrial motors had a non-standard stamp in the VIN derivative pad (if they had any stamp at all). If the number on the pad is a normal nine-character VIN derivative, it was originally a car engine (or at least a car block).
