im going to install 455 into my 71 cutlass s replacing my 350 can i use my 350 motor mounts or do i need different ones?

Not only can you, you MUST use the 350 mounts if you are using the stock frame brackets. If you want new rubber mounts, get Anchor P/N 2261.

joe, i think you should come up with a list of years and mounts and configurations. i think you know this best. then you could save it then copy past every time it comes up. to tell you the truth i thought on 70 to 72 you had to use the big block mounts on both sides. i learn something new today.

just a thought.

thanks for info found a 68 455 to rebuild and install.starting with engine and drivetrain first working from inside out on restoration.

Actually, I'm working on just such a post. I'm collecting the various motor mounts and frame mounts for a pictorial feature.

The rubber mounts must match the frame mounts. If the car has 350 frame mounts, it needs 350 motor mounts. The mounting holes on all the blocks are in exactly the same place.

Joe, I thought the #2261 mounts were for the '68 and older big and small block. And the '70 and up used different mounts for the small block and different ones for the big block Again with matching frame mounts.
Please correct me if not so.

2261 is actually the interlocking design used on the 70-72 small blocks. This part number replaces the non-interlocking mounts used on the 64-69 SBO and 65-68 BBO in the A-body cars. It has the same bolt hole locations and intechanges with the early mounts.

Interestingly, if you check the factory parts book, after the new interlocking design for the SBO was released in 1970, it is also shown as the replacement for the early mounts (though of course the parts book uses GM numbers, not the Anchor numbers).
