455 id

Is there a website or database somewhere so I can figure out what a 455 I have sitting in my garage came out of. Code break downs etc. and where to look for them. Thx

Welcome to C.O. andyman

If your 455 is out of the car, check the engine stamping pad (just below and to the left of the #1 cylinder. The stamping pad faces down but will tell you the plant, year and last 6 numbers of the VIN the car it was built for. Sometimes the stamping pad is pretty dirty so you may have to clean it to read the info. Should start 3(pnt code)(lst digit of yr)(123456 VIN derivative)

clik on Tech on the C.O. Tool bar and navigate through the engine info.

You can also go to the Wild About Cars website. It's not that easy to find stuff there unless you know where to look.
Try these links and see if they work for you

Is their a way to go further? Thank you for any help.

Unfortunately no. You've already determined production year and factory. The last 6 numbers are VIN ordinals and could have come off ANY of the 455 equipped A, B or C body cars.

Your heads should have a G casting (that's good because they have hardened valve seats in anticipation of unleaded fuel). Head casting number is 409100. If by some stroke of luck the heads have an H cast on them, you have some rare W-30 heads that are worth big $$$$$.

The intake manifold could have any of the following casting numbers
407566 - 2bbl
407570 - Aluminum OAI intake.
407567 - 4bbl
407568 - 4bbl SMT
231315 - Toro engine

If you look by the distributor hole, there will be 2 sets of numbers - a single digit and underneath a 3 digit. That's the casting ordinals. The single upper number is the mold it came from, the second is the casting date.
