Never had that problem right off the start but did have a paper type intake gasket failure that also sucked oil from the crankcase.....RTV should go on the front and back rubber seals but I use nothing on the paper parts except maybe some red spray high tac by permatex to hold the gaskets in place....Its important to torque the bolts evenly and in the pattern shown in manuals for Olds....My mistake is I didnt re-torque the bolts after a while and if I would have done this I dont think there would have been the problem.

It is important that after you do the intake you warm it up cool it down and re-torque (before driving). Do you have some kind of a lock washer vary important.

Was the engine rebuilt before? If yes, It may have been milled some, and the intake does not fit properly. Did you have trouble getting the bolt holes to line up ? Also the manifold you have, is it used ? If yes, it may have been milled before you, so now you warp it when you bolt it down. Also if you used the rubber strips on each end may cause trouble, I always use a big bead of silacone on each end and let it set up for a few minutes and then mount the intake.
