455 Carb choices

So working on getting my old 70 Cutlass back on the road. I have a 455 out of a 1974 98 in it with the possibilty of picking up a 1970 455 this summer. Do irebuild the quadrajet thats on it or pick up a Holly or Edelbrock for it. If so what size would be best?

Why not rebuild the old one. Qjets are good carbs, and you won't have to worry about linkage and hoses being different, and less money.

Plus, rebuilding the Quadrajet will be cheaper.

Have the Q-Jet rebuilt to factory specs, but use the ethanol resistant parts. John Herald Jr. on Facebook does a fantastic job. Dont trust a local rebuilder to know how to do it correctly

Correct. But don’t assume it’ll be jetted correctly for the application. Buy a wideband and finish the process the right way.

I agree the jetting will need to be confirmed. I bought a qudrajet from Guaranteed Carburetors out of Florida. The car runs great and can't complain about the quality, but it's calibrated per original specs and runs lean

since I am putting the carb that came on the engine back on I would think it would be jetted correctly

Jetted correctly for 98 to 100 octane leaded gas.
