455 build

Hello...I am just about ready to do some driving in my olds...I have a 73 olds 98 that I had rebuilt...I upgraded the points to hei..Mmy question is,,,,Would this change the timing,,,what plugs and what gap to use...Could I just use the stock plugs but use a different gap...I set the beginning timming with 0 tdc and the dist pointing at number 1...I don't have a timing light yet

My understandingis the HEI has less mechanical advance than the points dizzy. As a result many people run the HEI w more initial timing. If the points were set at 8-10 btdc try the HEI at like 15 or so

Your questions should all be answered in this thread (read through a few bits to the relavent parts).

In this thread, many of the same points are reiterated to a hard case who seems unwilling to read the material in the thread mentioned above.
