455 Alternator Bracket
455 Alternator Bracket
Hello. I am running a Eddy air gap on 455. I also only have the drivers side stock alternator bracket. The top bracket that has the arm that bolts to the intake will not work due to the intake runner getting in the way. My question is being that my budget is very tight rate now, can i cut the arm that goes back to the intake mounting point and just use the two bolt holes on front of head and be ok? If not will the non ac passenger side even work with intake? Or do i have to delay things and save up for aftermarket brackets? Thank you
Not sure about stock brackets. I bought different stock ones and couldn't get them to work or just plain hated the way they look. I am sure they can be modified as Olds engineers went overboard and made sure that those brackets can hold a jet engine.
I have one of these on my BBO. LINK
You can mount it in stock height or low mount. Relatively inexpensive.

70 cutty what side did you mount that on and was that the only bracket you used. Link just shows tensioner bracket. Also do you have any pics, would be greatly appreciated if did. Finally above 50 degrees here in northern mn and itching to get this thing in the car and running.
I have it mounted on the passenger side. Not sure if it would work on the driver side if you have power steering, I never tried. On my 350 I had it up high close to the stock location on my 455 it's low mounted. If you go to Engine Build in my signature, on last page there is a short video, you can see how it's mounted. I had this bracket for 6-7 years, never had an problem or thrown belt. It's simple and it works. If you need close up pictures, let me know I can take some and post it when I get home.
