425cui V8 fan cooler
425cui V8 fan cooler
I'm sorry my English is not good :-) do not know if version 1966 Oldsmobile 88 engine 425 cui 2 barrel version without air conditioning .. fan has 4 blades ... to be out of production around the fan shroud to improve cooling? thanks
The 4 blade fan would have been the standard equipment for the vehicle. The greater capacity cooling equipment offered by the factory included a larger capacity radiator, a 6 blade fan with clutch and a shroud.
Under normal driving conditions the engine temperature is ok, but if it is outside of very hot weather and longer stand on the spot light comes on HOT. I replaced the sensor and see.

It is better to use a gauge to see actual temperature. Also a lower temp thermostat will give a lower temp starting point when standing still so it may not get so hot. Over time the radiator becomes less efficient due to buildup inside and dirt on the outside. If the radiator is very old you could replace it or have it recored or cleaned internally by a shop.
Oldsmaniac has good advice for you. Always check the actual temperature with a second device, even for a gauge. If you change a part, always choose a replacement with the maximum cooling ability. In hot climates, our engines need as much cooling capacity as possible. And avoid running the engine when it is overheated.
