425 Fuel Pump Source?, or electric?

Hi: My mechanical fuel pump for a 425 failed again, so I have some questions:

a) How many miles should these pumps run?
b) Any Brand and/or source for buying them?, I usually buy from Rockauto the Carter brand.
c) Should I consider to swatp to electric?, i understand there life span is much longer, any drawbacks?

Best

Is the gasoline a mix with ethanol where you live? If so, the fuel is probably making the fuel pumps fail faster because of the alcohol destroying the rubber parts inside of the pumps. If you go to an electric pump make sure it is ethanol compatible.

I would go with a new mechanical pump. It is a lot easier, and I think Carter is a good brand. There is plumbing and electrical work to do with the electric pump. And to be safe, you need to include a fuel pressure cutoff with the electric pump for safety's sake.

If your car has a return line a Carter M4516 is a great pump.. It's one of their Muscle Car Series units.

I'm wondering how long your pump lasted before it failed. It seems like Rock Auto & a Carter pump would be a good combination.
In USA there are some places that have lifetime warranties on their pumps. They still might fail, but you'll only have to pay for it once.
