1970 X blocks

was on the phone with a guy talking engines , He told me about a W 30 build he was doing and talked about a x block he looked high and low to get so I looked at the 70 block I have and it is a x block 30X103675 I did not know it to be any more or less that a 70 455 He thought it was a More rare block ?? Any info on it would be great

X= Kansas City- Location of manufacture

I had that info , he kept telling me w-30 guys are looking for them ??? I know later w-30 cars have a x in the vin and dont know if thats what he was thinking ?

This reminds me of the guy at Pomona years ago trying to sell a 1969 442. The VIN derivative on the block showed it to be a 1970 motor from Fairfax, KS. The seller was adamant that the "X" meant "Experimental"...

That's not what you want to look for,when selecting a block.That's like buying one because it is blue.

Joe can I quate you on that in my ebay add like other tech info i have seen on the internet ? would you say I have a 1of 1 or should I go with maybe I in 20 I didnt think it was anything other than a 70 E headed 455 that was stuffed in a pontiac gran prix with a toro k intake that needs a rebuild but I had to ask . And It came with the utra rare Cutlass supreme headers Thanks

How many 455 blocks were cast in 1970? You have one out of that number.
They did make experimental blocks,but they have different casting number,beginning with ED or EB,but none of them went into a production car on the assembly line.

I have a X brother in law who talked about a experimental olds a friend of his had in a 66 or 67 gto said it was fast as hell . He claimed olds was after him to get the engine back and it was never to have been sold to public ??? I know mine is run of the mill 70
has E heads like i said I was just following up on info i was told . I will be a fun project .
