I have two questions: one is what hose does the insulator go onto and where (my car did not have one on it)? two is, why is the molded hose that mounts to the back of engine and goes to heater core different on a 442 ? the hose I took off my car was shaped different than the new one I received for a 442! the old hose is shorter, I cut it off when I removed it!!
The "old hose" appears to be a length of generic heater hose cut to fit; the correct from factory hose is the molded version. The "insulator" if I remember correctly goes over the hose from the water pump to protect it from chaffing on the alternator mount.

^^^THIS. Don't assume any old parts are factory original on a car that's 55 years old, especially soft parts like hoses.
Thanks for the info! that is the hose that parts place sent me and the old hose that I took off the motor was the other hose 383039 some one must have put the wrong one on then!
