1999 Aurora Question

I have a friend with a 99 Aurora who had a problem opening her trunk lid. Her friend who claims to be a mechanic says it was too heavy because it was filled with water. I've never heard of such a thing--the few leaky trunks I've encountered have always leaked into the compartment. Is such a thing possible?

This shouldn't have been too difficult for your friend, female or not, to figure out on her own. If there was enough water in the trunk lid to make a noticeable difference in the effort necessary to raise it, then it should have been possible to hear the water sloshing around when the lid is raised and lowered.

Did she hear any water sloshing around? Did this "mechanic" friend DO anything about the problem, like find a way to drain the water and thus verify that trapped water really was the problem?

If there really was water in the lid, you don't need to ask on here if such a thing is possible. It obviously is.
