New Olds 442 owner!

My husband has always always wanted an olds442 and what with the 5 kids almost out of the nest, well sort of.... we are at a place in our lives were we can do it..... so, long story short - as i type this, there is a 1971 Olds 442 convertable in Alabama that is being loaded onto a semi and headed our way to Alberta Canada - just in time for Fathers day for my husband - who certainly deserves this beauty!
We also have a 69'vert Cougar and have had its vin number deciphered...we got all the small details on the Cougar right down to the original paint, seat style and color etc..... i am hopeing that we can also get the Olds one deciphered too. I am not sure of the door coding but i believe that is what give you the more detailed info on the car????
Anyone out there who can help me... your site is very informative, too informative and somewhat overwhelming. You folks sure know your stuff... it is my hopes that we did not get ripped off in our purchase... I truly do not think we did.
THanks in advance for your help !
Can't wait to unload her!
Jessie

Here's a site that can help.
http://members.aol.com/drewinva/olds/vin/

I've used it before, and saw it listed by Joe Padavano in another thread. Congrats on the purchase! Sounds like a lot of fun, and you'll love the car...some say it becomes an addiction! Lots of others on here can help with specific questions.
