Exclamation 1970 Olds 442

The AC Control

Hi all, this is my 442 After 6 months of down to metal and starting over. I need to find the wood grain kit for my AC control unit pictured above. Any Ideas? Also I am getting ready for Exhaust. Should I go back original, or replace with the stainless pipe? Seems like stainless is the way to go? Next is size I want to go to 2.5" instead of the factory 1-7/8" any thoughts?

The A/C unit you've shown is aftermarket, not factory, so I have no idea where you would find a replacement woodgrain, if at all.

ok thanks so much the O8B is a date code. How do I find out the trim options that came with the car originally?

Thanks Again

For the woodgrain, since that is an aftermarket unit good luck finding anything for it. I'd suggest reach out to H&H and see if they'll sell you a sheet of the materials they that matches the '70 style and trim it down.

Exhaust depends how you use the car and what else is done to it. I just used an Inline Tube restoration style system and my installer was very impressed with it. Said it fit like a glove

Beyond whats on the data plate you'd have to locate the broadcast card. No records exist for Olds unless it was originally shipped to Canada

08 is August
B is the second week

There is no way to find out any more info on options on the car unless you find a build sheet in the car.

I'd suggest buying one of the wood grain replacement kits for a 1970 Cutlass/442 and seeing if you can cut and apply that onto the AC unit.

Lots of threads on classicoldsmobile on finding build sheets.... Under the carpet is one place, in rear seats, on top of gas tank. Though as mentioned on these forums almost none of the Lansing built cars have build sheets in them. Though you may find a broadcast card.
A lot of times I find google search quicker than the forum search. You can search all of classicoldsmobile.com for threads on "build sheet location" by entering the following into google search:
site:classicoldsmobile.com build sheet locations

Here's a thread on classic olds that talks about build sheet locations.
