Time capsule W30 at BJ
Didn’t see this mentioned anywhere, but there is a 2300 mile unrestored 70 W30 at Barret Jackson (selling Saturday of course) that is simply amazing.
What a treat to just be able to see it. They didn't have the hood open when we walked by but wow.
#’s, post, bench seat, 4 speed, W27........lots of paperwork.
There’s also a really nicely restored red 70 post car with w27 and 4 speed with docs.

wow, if that is originally paint it would be great if you can post more pictures of the stripes. Where they end at how the inside wide strip on the hood is a little more squared off then the outside. how far into the door jams they go etc. If you go back can you take more pics?

There are some big questions on that car that nobody seams to be able to answer. It has a restamped carburetor on it and I am told the distributor is not correct. I did not see the car in person but I am told the frame and much of the firewall and under the car had been repainted along with the stripes not original. Again, other than the carburetor I don't know personally.
Also, the W-27 was not original to this car.

Looking the BJ images, it looks like the drivetrain was detailed. Firewall and floors look crusty.....
Without access to the car or owner, couldn’t respond to claims of carb or dist. #’s.

So you know the owner or have had access to the car? Please share. Would be cool to know more about this car.
Wish I’d taken pictures of the window sticker and dealer sales forms.
It’s two owner, guy bought from his brother if i recall correctly.

There's a reason the hood and trunk will be shut as much as possible as I thought it had 100k plus the 2300 miles.
The motor was out and scattered in two different counties and 3 stories on past ownership.
Rear stripes almost touched the rear wheel opening moulding on both sides, under hood had zero patina left from the factory, trunk had a fuel pump drilled into it. It goes on and on.
Spent a full days drive to inspect and 30 seconds is all it took.
Hope the pics help answer a few questions out there.

Other than the picture of the carburetor they posted I can not tell first hand about any of it. I do know that these questions have been raised by people that have looked at the car. I just feel it needs to be acknowledged on threads so someone googling about the car sees that they should ask these questions before bidding. There very well may be good answers to them. I would love to see the car myself as it is a beautiful looking car.

It's a nice car, but this engine is NOT "unrestored". I do like the fact that they left the faded red inners alone - they are definitively not repros. Unfortunately, when a seller makes claims that are obviously not true, it calls into question all the other claims. This is not a criticism of the car, just a statement of fact.
This is interesting. They have apparently installed a incorrect TH400 e-brake cable, which prevented them from connecting the hook that goes on the passenger side of the crossmember. It's a brand new cable, so it may have just been an incorrect part installed, or it may be that this car was converted from a TH400 car - which would explain why the lower frame rails were painted - to hide the fact that the crossmember was at one time bolted in further back. Again, I don't know this, just saying that there are unanswered questions about what is supposed to be a high dollar car. Of course, those stainless (or is it HPC-coated) exhaust pipes aren't "original" either.

BJ's lawyers long ago crafted a disclaimer that absolves them of any responsibility for incorrect statements in the description. Here's the BJ bidder's agreement. Note the very first item under Terms and Conditions.

I was referring to the consigner not B-J. This auction house has a long history of selling cars that are not as presented. A simple Google search reveals countless incidents.

No argument on that. Fortunately for these sellers, there are plenty of people with waaaay more money than brains.

Umm, never mind. I'll just look at my car - its an all numbers matching car anyway. And to top it off mine is an unmolested, all original, low mileage, never touched car with one repaint a few repo parts and a rebuilt motor. The tires have been replaced but I reused the original air in them.

Hmm, if I drive around my block once each day I can soon add that to my description
BTW I still think its a great looking car - I'm biased though

Wow Joe, just imagine it's worth if you claim it was used in a famous bank robbery and chase. Patty Hearst and the SLA?
