W30 Stripe Question

Does anyone know if trunk stripes were factory ? My first car in 1976 was a 1970 W30, gold with black vinyl roof. Didn't have the original motor in it though, other than that it had all the right stuff, hood , four speed , under dash hood lock and W30 badges. This car had the stripes on the trunk as well as the hood. Think they were added later ?

You mean band-aid stripes? Nope.

If your car was missing the original motor, why would you think everything else is stock? Sounds like your car went through the ringer already by that time.

Lots of people who have seen Chevelles have painted the wide stripes on the trunks of Cutlii. These are not factory. Only two A-body Oldsmobiles came with wide trunk stripes from the factory, the 1970 Indy Pace Cars and the 1972 H/O.

Yes your car had trunk stripes from the factory...double pinstripe running across lower/rear edge of trunklid and on over to the corresponding quarter panel ends.

I had seen a 70 W30 back in around 91 that came from a dealer in Denver Co,That was a stripe delete car! It was aspen green with a Gold CLOTH interior. The car had all the W30 badging just minus the stripes It was still original paint and had a winow sticker to prove it. IT was one ugly car with that color combo. But yes a W30 could have come without stripes. That car was forsale for a couple years and the guy couldnt sell it dont know whatever happened to it.

Yes, except that the OP is asking about wide stripes like the ones on the hood:

Cloth interior in a Cutlass based car?. Cutlass Supreme, 4 door & vista yes but on a 442? I always thought that cloth was not offered on the Cutlass, Cutlass S or 442 lines. Did the window sticker show cloth interior? I presume this was a bench seat column shift car?

Stripe delete was avaialbe on a W-30. I have seen one car this way.

Yes, I remember seeing this car at an OCA nationals (don't remember which one). Had body side moldings instead of stripes. Seemed like a relative of the original owner had it, and it was for sale. Was a nice car, but not very attractive.

That car was at the OCA Nats in Omaha Nebraska. That's where that picture was taken also.
