I have a 1966 442, I was told the tranny is a M20. I purchased a bushing kit for it. I found that I need two larger bushings that didn't come in the kit. One of the larger bushings goes through a rectangular plate 2.5" long by 1" wide this plate has a round hole at one end 9/16" in dia. and a 5/8" by 3/8" slot at the other. This is at the forward end of the tranny, the rod that goes through this plate I believe is for reverse
The 9/16" diameter hole is where the larger bushing goes, the inside diameter of this larger bushing is approx. 7/16"

There's another same size bushing that goes near the aft end of the tranny. All the other bushings that came in the kit match up fine except for these two.

The kit I purchased was a "Hurst Shifters Pit Pack" steel shifter bushings and spring clips. # 332 7302. What kit do I need for the larger bushings?

 

Was the 66 a hurst shifter or a muncie?

 

They were Hurst shifters but came with plastic bushings for less noise transmission. Mr. Gasket #11 shifter bushing and retaining clip kit came out soon after. The kit has 6 bushings for both ends of the rods, but I don't know where you would get the big bushings except maybe from Hurst who has a rebuilding service.

I had a machine shop make some for me. At the Hurst site I saw a pack of steel bushings the picture showed two distinct sizes but the tech said they were all the same size and you couldn't go by the picture. ?????????
