Seeking Owner of a 1966 442 Holiday Coupe VIN 338176M214264
I am looking for the current owner of a 1966 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 Holiday Coupe, VIN 338176M214264. My father owned this vehicle from 1966-1970 and he recently found some documentation for this car that would interest its current owner. I know this is a shot in the dark, but I have to try...
The car was originally Sierra Mist (gold) with black bucket seat vinyl interior, 4-speed with spoked full wheel covers. It was purchased new by James Nelander, who was an engineer at General Motors. Jim decided it was time to get an "adult car" once he got married and had child on the way, so he sold it to my father in autumn of 1966. It had been in a minor front end collision during Jim's ownership. My father lived in Southgate, Michigan at the time and was a student at Eastern Michigan University. During the winter of 1966, my father learned the paint during the collision repair had not been properly prepped as it flaked off during a high pressure car wash. During the summer of 1967, my grandfather Leslie Tinsley (who worked at Downriver Collision in Lincoln Park, MI) repainted the car 1967 Florentine Gold Poly. My father sold it in the summer of 1970 to Bill O'Neill, who was a friend of my dad's friend Larry Wright. The car had approx. 50k miles on it, had a Sun tach installed into the dash in place of the clock, Sun gages and had an open diff in place of the original posi. It is rumored that Bill O'Neill crashed the car into a tree and totaled it shortly after buying it.
I thought I would post this in the event that this car was repaired and survives. Contact me via Private Message or at gearheadkeith@gmail.com if you know who currently owns this car.
