Repicated Broadcast Card W30

Anybody picked up on what is going on here? Check out what seller: vin-number-aged is peddling, specifically look at listing 153941170362 at a popular online auction site. For about $175, now your car can be a documented W30.

Old news, unfortunately. Right along with repop window stickers and blank OW tags.

What are the SEQ. #"s in the upper left box of the broadcast card? Is there any order to them as far as build dates?

There was a spirited discussion on another thread, recently closed, as to whether tributes/ clones were an attempt to deceive - and therefore fraudulent, or just a way of dressing up your car, creating the Olds of your dreams at half the price.

It’s all about intent. Intent to deceive for personal or financial gain? FRAUD

I don’t think there’s much discussion to be had on this topic, it’s absolutely fraudulent. Like swapping tags or VINs, to portray a car as something it’s not. Very sad.

At the risk of sending this thread into the weeds, I'll point out that even the federal statute only prohibits VIN tampering when done with intent to commit fraud. It is perfectly legal under FEDERAL law (and I make that distinction because state laws vary) to remove and replace a VIN tag "when reasonably necessary for repair". The legal trouble comes with the intent to commit fraud.

Loose dressing up I can understand. If someones got a nice sporty Cutlass and wants to put 442 emblems on because its a ballsy hot rod, I get it. To me that's someone who thinks 442s are bad ***. No real problem with that although I wouldn't do it myself. I am quite proud of my current Olds, my handle exemplifies it. Now would I love for it to be a 442 sure, but its a great car in its own right, so be it.

"alter a car's parts-makeup and appearance to precisely match another" that I have a problem with. You have to ask yourself why someone would want a certain model to be indistinguishable from another model that its not. The subject of this thread is a document that can help validate this kind of activity... so I agree with you.

Its worth it Joe. The OP did the Olds community a huge favor with this thread even if things get hot and it gets locked. As do others that post similar subject matter. It may help save a fellow car enthusiast misery and heartache.
