New Guy questions 69/W-30

Good day
I'm brand new to this forum and struggle with these things called confusers but here goes.
I have tried to find a succinct explanation of what is involved for the 69 W-30 option package. I understand it has engine differences, fender well differences but I need something really straight forward. After searching through this forum
I realize that this is no small task but would really like a definition. I just can't find it.
Thanks

Cam difference which produces less vacuum, no power brakes . Of course there is under bumper OAI and no ac. Built in lancing plant only

You pretty much have it in your and Jamsbos post. Its an option package on the 69 442. Certain parts are mandatory as is the case with most option packages. We are friendly here but we tend to hold back ALL the little nuances to limit proliferation of all the cloning going on today. You can purchase most everything reproduction aftermarket to make one. Its all bolt on. Certain things are not available on purpose. The W30s can only be made from one plant and you must have documentation for it to be purchased/sold for W30 dollars. Its up to the owner/seller/stealer...errrr dealer.... to prove it. Are you looking for one? Or looking to sell one? Again documents, POP, window sticker, build sheet (generally not with a W30) line card etc....Otherwise you have a Cutlass, F85 or a 442 with non OEM parts bolted on. Still a nice car though.

Gentlemen Thank you for your replies. Yes I am looking at a 442 and it appears to be a W-30 tribute/clone. I have a great friend who is in the restoration business and we will attempt to verify the car prior to purchase. It is a very pretty car and I'm trying to become wiser on the 442. Presently have a numbers match 64 Impala SS and we stumbled on the 442. I owned a 69 Cutlass S in my early Air Force days and it was a great car but I was always a bit jealous of my friend Terry who had the 442 so this is a bucket list type of thing.

There are a LOT more W-30s now than Olds ever built. All the parts are available repro.

Does it have a 344 as the first 3 characters in the vin?
What is the seventh character (letter) in the vin?

Pics of the Impala SS, please. One of my all-time favorite cars from the 58 with a 348 triple W engine, early production 65 SS with a 409, to a 76 Vert.or Bicentennial. I've owned 2 Impalas. Wishin for an SS427 68 drop top stick car. So is everyone else. Id trade my 442 for one.
If the car your looking at is clean and priced as a clone and not a W car then why not buy it. Still very nice. Pics of it too if you drop the hammer and buy it.

Gentlemen
Again thanks for the information on 442s. I'll definitely post a pic of the car if I drop the hammer. The SS is a numbers match 327/300hp 4 speed car. Tuxedo black with a relatively rare silver interior. A bit of work on the engine produced 352 hp on the dyno, Not a trailer queen it is a very high quality driver. The SS is basically stock but I did have a 4 wheel disc brake conversion installed. Again these confuser things often tax my brain but I'll make an attempt to get a picture of "The Black Car" posted. I have to update my pictures of it.

Charlie your sign in says "Phantom Phixer" If you are referring to the McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter Bomber (Mostly Bomber) I have 2500+ hours in that magnificent Monster of a war machine and damn proud of every hour. If you can fix a Phantom you can fix anything.

Yessir . I was a "crew chief " on Phantoms . I served with the 13th TFS in Udorn in 70-71 . I went back there during "operation linebacker " in 72 . Then to Ubon for " linebacker II " in 73 .
My time in the USAF was an education that couldn't be bought with money anywhere .
