Heat Insulating Material Question

Whilst waiting for my electrical guy to heal, I poked my head under the 442 briefly. Looks like the starter is about an inch and a half from one of the header pipes.
So.....I call the local Lordco and they say they sell the special blanket material.
Hang on guys...only by fifty foot rolls at $70 a roll.
One of my old school mates suggested the reflective stuff for furnace pipes. Anyone got thoughts along this line?
Might be fun to try something simple until my car guy returns.

I noticed the same thing on my 350 so I picked up some plug-wire heat shielding from Napa, it was on one of their spinner displays. It's been a while but I think the sleeves were 6 inches long and a bit too big around but I used them and haven't had any problems. You can kind of see them in this pic:

I'll try NAPA. Thanks for the tip.
