weird part is this is a non power brake, non power steering car.
i thought the 442 was built on a Cutlass Supreme, which had all these as standard equipment?

has anyone ever seen a 442 equipped with M20 4 speed, 3:90 limited slip, no power steering & no power brakes before? after 5 years of searching- i have yet to find one like this.

 

Very few options that we take for granted today were standard equipment back then. Power steering was a $94.76 option on the Cutlass Supreme. Power brakes with drums all around was a $41.60 option. Power brakes with front discs was a $104.79 option.

The 442 performance package, available only on the Cutlass Supreme, included a 3-speed floor-shift manual transmission. The 442 package could also have been had with a 4-speed manual or the Turbo-Hydramatic, apparently for the same price. The 442 package as a whole was $184.31.

Rule of thumb:

Muscle cars came standard with:
- 3-speed manual (mostly on the floor)
- no power anything
- no gauges
- hubcaps
- no radio
- etc.

Even among cheapies, the 1968 Plymouth Road Runner came standard with a 4-speed. In 1970, they made a floor-shifted 3-speed standard to keep the price down.
