My 66 442 has a fuel cell in the trunk, a cannister fuel filter under the tank and two electric fuel pumps pushing to the 750 Holley carb. I have had issues with the engine acting like it is running out of fuel. Can pull over pump the accelerator and it will restart.
Today it did this and I found I was very very low on fuel. Put less than a gallon in and it fired right up and ran fine all the way home. There is on fuel guage in the tank but looking into the cell it appears to be kind of murky in there.
I'm going to change tanks and have a guage instead of a measuring stick.
I can change to a 15 or 20 gallon aluminum fuel cell with the sending unit for a guage. Swap .out the
lines and change the filter cartridge and go. Or I can change to an under car tank, add a sending unit.
Its probably 100 to 150 bucks more for the under car option. Which way would you go?
I am in the process of installing a factory style tank with baffles and in tank pump. The aftermarket makes this easy and affordable plus you get your trunk back! I prefer the in tank pump as it runs cooler and is quieter. When i was pricing them they ran anywhere from 450-600 dollars depending who you buy them from. I believe they all use the Tanks inc tank though as i bought mine from Holley and it has Tanks inc stamped into it.
