Flat washer AND lock bracket for 1967 Exhaust Manifold?
Flat washer AND lock bracket for 1967 Exhaust Manifold?
Enjoyed reading several posts about exhaust manifolds. I am currently installing manifolds on my '67 and have a simple/stupid(?) question or two. Since Fusick supplies manifold bolts WITH flat washers AND sells exhaust manifold lock brackets, where do you put the flat washer with respect to the lock bracket? Looks like on my "original" '67 442, it's bolt head, bracket, flat washer, manifold; but there's a lot of rust and corrosion down there!
I was curious about the 25 ft-lb torque spec and can see why a lock bracket might be needed at the low torque! Makes sense, I guess. So, just to make sure, do you punch up a corner of the extended "shoulder" on the lock bracket?
I'm using anti-seize on bolt threads and will use a Fel Pro gasket since it was in the kit. Very interesting that gaskets were not used when manufactured.
Thanks for your thoughts.
